I've never been one for retrospection, so bear with me, but I thought it'd be worth it to take a step back before heading out on winter break. It's been a hard year - many of you know how busy I've been with schoolwork recently - but it's also been a great year. We built an even better Catenary, with a refreshed UI and homepage. BuildSD took major steps towards our goal of documenting development across San Diego, telling stories that matter to San Diegans. We co-founded the SDHS Student Union and CalHSTA, which have received local and national media attention, and we successfully pulled off the first ever season of San Diego Unified's Game of the Week - bringing over 600 hours of fun to families across the District.
I put "we" before all these awesome things because none of them could have been done alone. Nothing could make me regret the hundreds of hours spent this year working with cool people like you on cool things. And going into 2025, we have so many opportunities to keep the momentum going. I'm not exactly sure where I'm going, but I know that there's nothing I'm looking forward to more than building more cool stuff with friends, new and old.
For now, though, time to relax and ride some transit. I've heard Spring Valley is nice this time of year.
With ❤️ and 🚊,
Samuel
